Groove Thang - Final Remix
Submitted by Shad on Sat, 03/08/2008 - 00:05.Groove Thang - Final Mix
After some feed back from a few people, I took out some of the bright "rings", and added a drum track (three of them actually).
To "Darken" it a bit I added a flanger to the clavier, chopped it up a bit and then rearranged the sequence of the organ a tad. Lastly I added a scratch rhythm guitar riff and a nice melodic electric.
Enjoy.

Music at last
Submitted by Shad on Fri, 03/07/2008 - 04:54.I have given up trying to find music for my vids (everybody either has their hand out for cash or does not have the time to produce what I need or want) so I decided to make my own.
I have no idea if its any good (I like it, but hey, I made it..sooo
). I do not have a movie that this was planned for, it was more to practice.
Its a bit "Moby" like - ambient.

Running Man Animation
Submitted by Shad on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 17:49.If you saw the painting I have posted a while ago called Escape from Singapore, you will recall that I mentioned that it was a full rendering of the first frame of an animation I was working on. This short 20 second bit is the next step in the process, consisting of the background from that image with two seconds of box figure running animation and then two Zeros flying by. This quick test still took one heck of a long time to complete as there are sixty images in the two seconds of running alone.
Bianca (Work In Progress) #2
Submitted by Shad on Sat, 01/12/2008 - 19:30.More practicing with the facial features in isolation. Next up, as promised - her eyes.
There are few problems with this drawing, including a slight asymmetry with the irises...
A Terrible Tragedy
Submitted by Shad on Sat, 01/12/2008 - 14:35.There was a horrible traffic accident in the small city of Bathurst, New Brunswick (pop. 13,000) today in which 7 high school boys were killed along with their coach's wife, who was riding with them. Three others remain in hospital, one in critical condition. All were members of the Bathurst High's basketball team. The 8 dead were among 12 people in the van driven by their coach that slid into the path of a large semi-trailer transport truck while returning from a game in Moncton, NB, which is about 200KM south of Bathurst.
They were five minutes from home.
Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families of the victims on this most terrible of days.
SETI@Home needs more help
Submitted by Shad on Sat, 01/05/2008 - 12:58.The Search For Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence project at Berkeley (SETI) is looking for more people to help process data using the distributed (GRID Computing) BOINC based SETI@Home application.
This tiny little application runs when your computer is idle (or however you set it) and helps process data gathered from the upgraded Arecibo telescope, which is gathering some 100 terabytes of data a year now. 500 times more than it was gathering previously.
MS Flight Simulator X Service Pack 2 released
Submitted by Shad on Thu, 12/20/2007 - 13:56.For those of you who have a copy of FSX, ACES and MS have released service pack 2. Those running Windows Vista will be able to see some fancy new DirectX 10 features such as the new bloom effect.
It also provides multi-player compatibility with their add-on package "Acceleration". If you own "Acceleration", then this service pack is unnecessary.
For XP users, there seems to be little in the way of noticeable changes. Performance remains much the same as with SP1.
You can read about it and download it here:

SERVER OUTAGE
Submitted by Shad on Sat, 11/17/2007 - 13:06.Our apologies for the being down the last two days, it was not intentional. What was supposed to be a simple hardware swap resulted in a very corrupted OS and databases. The servers had to be completely rebuilt and reconfigured from scratch. There may still be a few glitches and short periods of downtime as we hunt down and kill off the bugs.
Drawing From the Right Side of the Brain: Snowy Tree
Submitted by Shad on Sat, 11/10/2007 - 15:43.There was no class this Friday (there was some sort of event that usurped our classroom), but let it not be said I did nothing. I went to an Art & War symposium the Dominican University College during the day (in French of all things), then today I drew this.
While not exactly on the agenda, I saw a snowy and foggy picture I wanted to try to draw an element from, which was more shading exercises, in this case snow on the tree.
I should have done this on white paper, not newsprint (the white just does not stand out well).
