Frequently Asked Questions

How do I upload Images to the Gallery?

OK, this is the way to upload files in a way that will blow your mind. Check this out.

Go to your gallery.

Click on ADD ITEMS in the Gallery Navigation Menu to the left, or at the bottom of the page (a drop down).

Select "Gallery Remote".

Read the instructions and go download the remote.

If you have Java (JRE or JVM) installed, then grab the small version (no JVM). If you do not have Java Installed, then grab the one with the JVM.

Install it. When it asks for your java version, click search. When it finds it, stop the search and click continue. If it does not find it, make sure the Java Runtime is installed. Grab the JVM version, or better yet, grab the latest version from http://java.sun.com.

Launch the programme.

It may tell you there is a new version available. Ignore the message as the URL seems to be broken.

You should see two panes. To the left should be the main application window, and to the right of it the preview window.

At the top of the window is "Add Gallery URL...".

Click it.

Click "New".

Add a name for this site, EG: AO.

Add your site login name, your password and leave the gallery type as "standalone".

The Gallery URL is:

http://www.ascendant-online.net/gallery2/

Click OK. Select the new AO entry, then click OK again.

Now click Login.

In the window below the URL you should now see "Gallery" with a + sign beside it. Click the plus and navigate to your gallery or sub-gallery.

Make a new album (button on the bottom), or Add a picture.

The easier way to add pictures though, is to simply drag and drop them from your desktop into the pane labeled "Pictures in selected..."

Once you have ordered the pictures, simply click "Upload Pictures" and soon enough you will have them all in the gallery.

Then, come here.

Click on "add Gallery2 image" (below the text entry box) and it will open another little JS window. In this one navigate to your album (I already wrote a tutorial here) and then select a picture from your newly uploaded selection and then select the top option in the "How to insert" box labeled "Drupal Gallery2 Filter".

Click insert and you should see something like this: [ g2 : 1104 ]

It wont be all appart like that though, i did it like that to fool the system into showing the brackets.

Click Submit and you then should see something like:

How do I insert images into posts?

OK here are the general instructions for posting Images into forum posts. First off, JavaScript must be enabled in your browser to use most gallery functions.

1. Upload your pictures to your main gallery. Create a new sub-gallery if you wish.

2. Come here to the forums.

3. Below the input box where you type your message, and above the preview and submit buttons, is a link called "Enable(or Disable)rich-text". If it says "enable", then precede to step 4 now.

If it says "disable" then disable it and proceed to the next step. This little editor hides whats really going on, and it also, at this time is inserting the wrong code type by default.

4. While looking for the "enable/disable" link, you should hopefully have noticed the link just above it, called "add Galler2 Images". Click this link now. This dialog should appear:

In this window navigate to your gallery.

When you get there a series of thumbnails will appear that look like this:

Select the image you want and click insert:

ScreenShot284.jpg

Click preview

Now you should have this, which when clicked on will take them to your full gallery. I will up the max size in the gallery to be 1600px from the 1280 it is now:

Valencia

Is this easy or what?

The image can be linked to externally, in another forum for instance, using the url embedded in the code you should see in the source (one of the reasons to turn the editor off).
